Greg Gilman, ATC, LAT
Greg graduated from Texas A&M in 1984 after spending five years with the Aggie football team earning Varsity letters in 1982 and 1983. He is a licensed and certified Athletic Trainer in charge of the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Clinic.
Greg has spent the last 32 years working with high school, collegiate, Olympic and professional athletes, the last 26 years based in the clinical setting. He has volunteered hundreds of hours covering events such as Hoop-It-Up, Air-It-Out, Fort Worth Rugby, Dallas Cup soccer, Spud Webb Charity Basketball, NHL Across America, and was the Head Athletic Trainer for the inaugural Fort Worth Fire Hockey Club.
Greg is extremely involved in the evolving practice of performing arts medicine. He served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Fort Worth Ballet (now Texas Ballet Theater) from 1991 until 2009. He was also Head Athletic Trainer for Metropolitan Classical Ballet, and routinely consults with many ballet schools across North and Central Texas, including Ballet Frontier. During that time, he is proud to proclaim that he has covered almost 400 Nutcracker performances! He is also covering touring productions in multiple cities, such as The Lino King, Beauty and the Beast, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, Contact Aida, and numerous others. With his extensive experience, Greg was asked to join the DanceUSA National Taskforce on Dancer Health in 1995. this Taskforce has been instrumental in developing programs designed to decrease the incidence of injury and other health-related issues common to performing artists.
Greg's other passion is biomechanical evaluation of foot and ankle injuries, and consults with Image Orthopedic Lab in California to design and fabricate custom orthodics. He is skilled at helping runners assess proper shoe wear and running shoe selections. He also takes his biomechanical knowledge and routinely assesses throwing mechanics as it relates to shoulder, elbow and upper back issues.
When he's not working, Greg has served on numerous church boards, the last three as Administrative Council Chair. He served six years as trustee and President of the Crowley Independent School District Board. Perhaps his greatest enjoyment has come as a volunteer Athletic Trainer for Brock ISD, and helping the Girls Basketball Program to five consecutive State Championships, including four with is daughter!
Greg is married to Debbie, a retired school teacher, and has three children. He enjoys working his small farm, traveling to the mountains and beach, hunting, rainsing springer spaniels, and just taking off on his 2012 Harley Ultra Classic Limited.
